How Instagram Destroyed The Photography & Art Community

There was a time when Instagram was the ultimate platform for digital artists and photographers to share their work, grow their audience, and showcase their talent. It was a golden era where consistent uploads, the right hashtags, and a little help from the algorithm could grow an account into something extraordinary.

But as Instagram evolved, so did its priorities, leaving countless creators behind. In my latest video, “How Instagram Destroyed The Photography & Art Community,” I dive into the platform’s algorithmic changes, the impact they’ve had on creators, and why many artists—including myself—have stopped prioritizing Instagram.

In the video, I share my personal experience, from the highs of being featured by major accounts like Adobe Photoshop to the lows of seeing my reach plummet after Instagram’s algorithm started favoring paid ads and videos. For artists who once relied on the platform to connect with fans and potential clients, the shift has been disheartening.

Watch the video below to learn more about how these changes unfolded, why so many artists have left Instagram, and why I’ve started focusing on YouTube instead.
